On Saturday, the The Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf distributed roughly 550 Thanksgiving meals, which included a gift certificate for a Thanksgiving turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, Jell-O and pies among other items.

Henna party kicks off Eid celebrations in Woodbury
Noura Tobasi,4, of Woodbury gets a henna tattoo Thursday at the Islamic Society of Woodbury to kick off her Eid-Al-Adha celebration. The Muslim community celebrated the second greatest holiday of the year beginning Friday, Oct. 26. The festival commemorates the prophet Ibrahim’s, willingness to sacrifice his son to God. The holiday also marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca. Muslims observe the holiday by sacrificing an animal or donating to charity as an act of thanksgiving.

VIEWPOINT: Outlining cold-weather decisions
My Thanksgiving break was spent enjoying time with family, getting caught up on home projects, beginning our holiday shopping, and watching a few movies and football games. It was also a time for updating ski equipment, getting the sleds down from the attic, and watching the snow begin to gather on the landscape. Whether we like it or not, these are all signs that cold weather is arriving and with it the possibility of inclement weather.
