Herbert Howard Mielke, age 79, of Woodbury, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, went to be with the Lord suddenly, after a brief struggle with metastatic cancer, on April 9.
Herbert Howard Mielke, age 79, of Woodbury, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, went to be with the Lord suddenly, after a brief struggle with metastatic cancer, on April 9.
Born April 24, 1932, in Springfield, Minn., Herb graduated from high school in Redwood Falls, Minn., and served in the U.S. Army as a young man. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he received his degree in mechanical engineering, and worked at 3M for 30 years until his retirement in 1992. He married Sherry Jack in 1957, and they raised three wonderful children together. His devotion to his family was a testament to his faith in God.
Survived by his wife, Sherry; children, Cary (Karen), Rachel (Tim) Miejan, and Greg (Colleen); grandchildren, Kyle, Benjamin, Cameron, Marissa, Krysta, and Grant; sisters, Millie Lindstrand, Gertie Glimsdahl; and brothers, Alvin and Don.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Woodbury Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, and 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to YMCA Kids to Camp: https://mplsfd.ymcatwincities.org/k2c.
