Christine T. Hansen (Chris), age 63 of Cottage Grove: Chris passed away June 23 after a 5-year battle with peritoneal cancer (lining of the stomach).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Selma Stoneman; and her first grandson, Jacob Turnis, who died of SIDS.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Dick; sister, Michele Stoneman; children, Tom (Bonnie), Nancy Turnis (Jason), Steve (Jen), Wendy, and Jeff (Maria); grandchildren Jessica, Jenna, Janiel, Elizabeth, Jarrett Turnis and Mitchell Turnis; sister-in-law, Kay Owens; brother-in-law, Dave Hansen; many nieces and nephews.

Chris was born in Hancock, Mich., and was raised in Houghton, Mich. She worked for the Upper Peninsula Power Company, Bombardier in Duluth, and close to 20 years at 3M, finishing up with the executive staff. She met and married Dick in 1968 in Houghton while he served in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Calumet Air Force Station. She moved to Duluth after getting married, then to Oakdale and over 30 years in Cottage Grove.

She loved knitting, crocheting, card making, various crafts, and going to garage sales (she helped coordinate the Highlands Neighborhood Garage Sales in Cottage Grove.)

A special thanks to the people at Minnesota Oncology of Maplewood; the Gables Care Center at Boutwells Landing; and the INR nurses at Aspen Bandana Square who all helped me on my final journey.

Memorial service 2 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Woodbury United Methodist Church. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery. Memorials preferred.
