t.a.: Just for the record, after her stroke my own mother resided for several years in one of these places (the one in Woodbury by the HS), so I have seen the "dangerous" people that fill them. Would you like to offer some examples to go with your objections, based on your own personal experience? (BTW, I'm tempted to report you as a violation of the rules for this board - you seem to relish in calling everyone names and making snide remarks. Would you be so brash if you listed your name, not just your initials? This is supposed to be an open adult forum; let's treat each other that way please!) As for the benefits that someone was asking about, here are some examples: our society is in danger of losing our generational awareness. We no longer live in extended families, where everyone is in close contact with multiple generations. One result is that we tend to only look at the world from our own perspective - whether it be young, middle, or old age - because we just don't spend enough time with others who are "outside" our age group. Having a few old people in the neighborhood is a reminder of our own mortality, and should give us some appreciation for what we have, rather than always whining about what we don't have. Remember, these people don't have anything any more; be glad that you do. And, finally, I can assure you that another characteristic of these people is loneliness. Often they have been abandoned by their own children, because they don't fit into the nice, neat grandma/grandpa stereotype. They would love to get regular visits from children, young adults, even other parents, just to play a game, or color, or sing songs. Send along armed guards if you think it is necessary. I don't care; just go and make someone else's day a little brighter.

Boy t a, Joe is making you look as foolish as a one-legged man in a a butt kicking contest. He's also proving that neither you nor dan f have any idea what they're talking about. How funny that you all are so naive and panicked about something so simple. Property values indeed. What a joke you are.

Hey Dan, Jack’s got us dead to rights! His unrelenting intellect is unmatched on this message board. His relevancy of being a citizen of Prescott in having any precedent over a residence of Woodbury is straight on. His use of dramatic capitalization of words is intimidating and convincing! Yes Jack, mentally unstable people, like yourself, are a danger. Thus they get locked into a facility like the one proposed. Maybe building this thing isn’t such a bad idea. When Jack is confined to this group home, I will be able to walk on by and point and laugh as Jack strolls around the court yard with his crap filled pants. When the ultimate dementia sets in Jack, I want you to remember one thing and one thing only – The guy laughing is me!

ta. There are no risks to you or anyone in Stonemill Farms from residents in an assisted living facility. This has never been demonstrated anywhere. There is no documentation that an assisted living facility has caused proprty values to go down in any loaction that one has been built. we can also guarantee the age and type of residents in two ways, one is by the restrictions of the Class F license and the other is by asking for and being granted specific approval by the City for a residence for people age 55 and older with diagnosis of Dementia and Azlheimers disease. Any change to this would have to be approved by the city. The behavior and actions of the type of residents that would be in this facility are very predictable which is why their actions can be managed with the proper training and staffing. These facilities are built near schools, daycare centers and residential areas all over the state. As part of our ongoing dialogue with the residents of Stonemill Farms we plan to offer tours to one or more of the facilities in the Twin Cities so people that are interested can see what they are really like.

And to comment on your poor reading comprehension skills, I didn't claim I have "a say in the matter." You claimed I said it, but I didn't. I want to know what difference it makes that it's next to, on top of, or freaking attached to an elementary school. Tell me. Don't spit garbage onto the screen about zoning because you couldn't give a rip less about the zoning. At least man up and admit your opposition is based on idiotic and false claims that these people are dangerous to kids. Quit lying to yourself and everybody else.

Your argument is based on thinking these old people are going to rape and kill your children. Nothing else. Don't try to fool anybody. You bring up every time how dangerous these people are to your kids. Why is that? PRESENT YOUR EVIDENCE OR SHUT UP ALREADY. Oh no, you're going to rip on Prescott to try and get to me? Good grief, what are you 7? Dan, you present no arguments of sense, and neither does the other dimwit who keeps crapping his nonsense onto this forum.

Technically you don't have a say Jack. Your opinion counts for the sake of argument only. Your opinion will not and should not be taken into consideration when it comes to the city council decision. The arguments against this are many and yet the arguments for this are only against those who oppose. I believe most reasons against this are legitimate. 1: bad location. 2:incorrect zoning 3: was never part of the community master plan 4: elementary school and day care center within 400' 5: building is slated to double in size (correct me if I'm wrong Joe) 6: community safety (which I don't buy) among others. I have yet to hear reasons why this should be put in our neighborhood. Please name 6-8 things that counter our reasons. How will this be a positive on our community? This is about as far away from the freeway you can get. How is that easy for the families of relatives. Please shed some light and convince me why this should be here. p.s. To all those against us, you lose all credibility when you proceed to ridicule us instead of give us sound reasons.

No, technically you have no say in the matter. Jack, your feelings about this matter are confined to you and your parents basement that you live in. “Stick that in your pipe and smoke it” – I think we are getting to the root of your issues! The emotional ball of goo that you call logic is a bit scary. That fact of the matter is that highly mentally impaired individuals will be within 200 feet of 400+ children on a daily basis. The behavior and actions of these people are incredibly unpredictable, that is why they are in a facility like the one proposed. But, do you build a facility like this with in feet of 2 schools? Does this risk need to be taken? Is this the optimal spot to build this facility? The answers are no And Jack – I’m going to kind to Prescott – there is a lot of low hanging fruit that I could rip into about your little home town.
