Man who dated Jessica Schaffhausen testifies he received threatening call

Twelve witnesses in all were called by the prosecution in testimony that began Wednesday morning, April 10, and ended at about 4:30 p.m. A former rental car agency manager, a hotel general manager and two restaurant workers provided details about Schaffhausen’s actions the morning before he drove from St. Paul to River Falls and killed his children.

Nasty weather outside makes for big crowd at indoor Easter egg hunt

An estimated 2,000 to 2,500 people turned out for the 15th annual Community Easter Egg Hunt started by Christ Center Assembly of God Church. This year, Christ Center had help from nearby Harvestime Outreach Church.

Tourist information center demolished; city gets garage and shelter

The state tourist information center that stood along Interstate 94 in Hudson for many years was demolished on Monday. The excavation of the 16 acres on which the tourist center stood will begin soon, said David Robson, a partner in the development group that bought the land from the state for $1.25 million.

Hudson City Council votes 4-3 to return sailboat dinghies to the dike

The council approved a plan from the Public Works Committee to create five areas along the dike where groups of up to 10 dinghies will be stored. The of dinghies kept on the dike must be about 55 inches wide, no longer than 10 feet, and white or cream in color.

SOS for Youth faces troubles of its own

The name SOS for Youth is ironic given the financial crisis the teen acting company is facing. In a March 6 letter to supporters, SOS Executive Director Sue Oberg said the company needed to raise $36,000 by April 1 or it would be forced to suspend its shows and disband its cast of young people.

Family and friends make a colorful, backyard igloo

The ice-block igloo in the backyard of Carrie Hogan’s and Steve Peterson’s house on Crosby Drive in the town of Hudson was made for the fun of it. Steve came across an online article about a guy in Canada who had built an ice igloo, and his wife thought it would be a good activity for their family.
