Police reports: Hair extension attack, business burglaries, woman stops phone scammer in her tracks, more

A St. Croix Falls, Wis., siding company reported Jan. 22 that work trailer left near a work site in the 1600 block of Deephaven Drive had been stolen. The trailer, valued at $8,000 was recovered the next day in Anoka County. The contents of the trailer – tools and materials valued at about $20,000 – were gone.

A Once Upon A Child employee reported Jan. 22 that her vehicle’s battery was stolen. The woman said that after leaving work, her vehicle wouldn’t start. Her father came to inspect the vehicle and found it was missing its battery, the cables to which had been cut.

A resident on Bluegill Road reported suspicious activity Jan. 23. A juvenile child said two men dressed in full snow gear with back packs rang the home’s doorbell and pounded on the door. Police were unable to locate the suspects.

A Hudson building company reported Jan. 23 that a cut table was stolen from a construction site in the 11000 block of Sand Castle Drive. A chain securing the table had been cut. Evidence of other attempted thefts at the site were also described. Loss: $700.

Police were called Jan. 23 to Sally’s Beauty Supply, 10150 Hudson Road, for a theft. A woman pulled a $140 hair extension off a secure display rack and was confronted by the store manager, who grabbed the hair piece from the woman. The suspect snatched the extension back from the manager and slapped her on the cheek with it before running out of the store to a vehicle waiting for her.

Police responded Jan. 24 to Farmers Insurance, 683 Bielenberg Drive, for a burglary report. Someone pried open a door, then pried open interior doors and cabinets. Workers said nothing appeared missing. A neighboring business also had evidence of an attempted break-in.

A Woodbury woman reported Jan. 25 that her vehicle had been stolen. Before the call was dispatched, the woman called to say she remembered where she had parked her car and reported that it hadn’t been stolen.

A resident in the 6700 block of Jenny Lane reported Jan. 25 that her vehicle had been tampered with. Nothing appeared missing, though the vehicle had been rifled through.

A resident in the 2400 block of Cochrane Circle reported Jan. 27 that jewelry was stolen from his home. A man’s ring, a bracelet and a woman’s ring were missing. There were no suspects. Loss: about $2,400.

Golf Galaxy, 9780 Hudson Road, reported Jan. 27 that a female shoplifted $96 in high-end golf balls. Security video was being reviewed.

Fire and police units responded Jan. 27 to a home in the 3100 block of Juniper Lane for a possible fire. Water was reported flowing from an upstairs area into the first floor. Significant water damage was discovered

A Woodbury woman reported Jan. 28 that she received a phone call from a person purporting to be her granddaughter. The caller said she was in jail. The complainant told the caller she didn’t have a granddaughter, prompting the caller to hang up. Police told the woman the call was a scam. The woman said if she receives a similar call, she tell the caller “to stay in jail.”
