Police reports: High school street brawl, raging neighbor, parking space pistachio attack, more ...

A Woodbury resident reported Jan. 16 that a townhome he rents out in the 8700 block of Hudson Bay had been burglarized. A safe was reported missing from a bedroom closet. The front door of the residence had been broken in. No suspects.

A Lake Elmo man reported Jan. 16 that his vehicle’s front license plate was stolen while parked at the YMCA, 2175 Radio Drive.

A Woodbury woman reported Jan. 16 that while driving on Manning Avenue, a motorist braked, pulled over, then followed her through the Stonemill Farms development at a high rate of speed. The woman didn’t know the motorist or why she was being pursued.

Police were called Jan. 17 to Teppanyaki Buffet, 8340 City Centre Drive, for a burglary report. The restaurant’s front door had been broken. About $1,500 in cash was stolen from the restaurant’s till. Evidence linking the suspects to a convenience store purchase was being investigated.

Police were called Jan. 18 to Redwood Curve for a fight in progress in the street. Police stopped a vehicle that had left the scene and visited a nearby residence, where several underage drinkers were cited. A total of nine people were cited for underage consumption.

Police responded Jan. 18 to a report of a large fight near Courtly Road and Kings Drive. Several cars were located there, where people admitted to being in a fight, though no one provided specific information. One combatant who had been injured in the fight said it was related to the Woodbury High School vs. Roseville High School basketball game, which had recently concluded. The injured combatant declined medical attention. No citations were injured.

A Channahon, Ill., man reported Jan. 18 that he responded to a Craigslist ad where a Woodbury man had advertised a subwoofer for $50. The Illinois man agreed to send half of the payment and then the Woodbury man would send the speaker. The Illinois man said he sent the money, but never received the speaker – only getting “the run around” from the Woodbury man.

Police were called Jan. 18 to Woodbury High School for a report of two males smoking marijuana in the school’s bus door vestibule. An 18-year-old student was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was cited for drug possession; the other student received school consequences.

A Woodbury woman reported Jan. 19 that a neighbor on North View Lane had chased her son and a friend into her garage after the boys threw a snowball that his car. The woman told the man, who was yelling and swearing at the boys, to go home. The woman offered to pay for any damage to the vehicle, but the man said there was none inflicted. Police contacted the man and told him that entering another person’s residence “was a bad choice.” The man agreed and said it wouldn’t happen again.

A Woodbury woman reported Jan. 19 that a man threatened her after a confrontation over a parking spot outside Rainbow, 7050 Valley Creek Plaza. The woman said she and the suspect were stopped for a car leaving the parking spot. Since the suspect didn’t have his turn signal on, the woman proceeded into the spot. The man then threw pistachios and her vehicle and pounded on her window. The man, a Woodbury resident, was cited for disorderly conduct and released.

An anonymous caller reported Jan. 20 that a dog had been left alone in a car outside Marshall’s, 7150 Valley Creek Plaza, “for a long time.” An officer checked on the dog, which did not appear to be in distress at the time, and made contact with the owner as she left the store. The officer issued the woman, a Hudson resident, a verbal warning and noted that the air temperature at the time was 9 degrees.

Police responded Jan. 20 to Wild Bill’s, 546 Commons Drive, for an assault report. A Cottage Grove woman, described as loud, irate and having a bloody nose, reported that another woman had assaulted her inside the bar. Other witnesses, including the restaurant manager, refuted her claim, saying she had actually been struck with a beer bottle by her friend, an Inver Grove Heights woman. After being struck, the Cottage Grove woman turned around and saw the other woman, which whom she engaged in a hair-pulling battle. One woman reported her hair extensions were ripped out. The Cottage Grove woman did not pursue charges against her friend because she denied her friend had assaulted her.

A worker at Waxing the City, 10035 CityWalk Drive, reported Jan. 21 that someone had attempted to break into the business the previous night. Damage to the business’ lock had been discovered when opening and confirmed while attempting to close for the day. A locksmith told the workers that someone had tried to pry open the door, but no entry had been made.
