Woodbury gymnastics: Royals fall to Stillwater

Without injured Jordan Rodriguez and Makenzie Beck, a shorthanded Woodbury gymnastics team hung tough and gave Suburban East Conference foe Stillwater a challenge at Woodbury High School last week. The Ponies edged Woodbury 132.475 to 130.275 in the end, however.

Woodbury seventh grader Allison Trebesch and freshman Maddie Pearson led the way for the Royals. Trebesch finished second in the all-around with a 34.125 score, just ahead of the third-place Pearson (33.3). Trebesch had Woodbury’s top score overall in the meet with a 9.25 in the vault. She also scored an 8.575 in the floor exercise, a 7.95 on the bars and an 8.35 on the beam. Pearson’s top score came in the floor exercise with a 9.0. She also scored an 8.8 on the vault, an 8.5 on the beam and a 7.95 on the bars. In addition, sophomore Tess Halada scored a 7.8 on the beam and a 7.45 on the bars, senior Maddy Haut scored an 8.35 on the vault and junior Rose Peterson scored an 8.45 in the floor exercise.

Woodbury returns to action at SEC foe White Bear Lake on Thursday, Jan. 10.
