The year 2013 will see the opening of the Dorothy K. Merrill Community Arts Center’s “Loft Stage Campus" including the Black Box THeater.By: Amber Kispert-Smith, Woodbury Bulletin
It has been eight years since a community arts center was just an idea.
Now, the Dorothy K. Merrill Community Arts Center has a “Rivertown Campus,” an 8,000 square foot building located at 380 Rivertown Drive, that includes a workspace for theater projects and offices.
The year 2013 will also see the opening of the Dorothy K. Merrill Community Arts Center’s “Loft Stage Campus.”
Plans call for a 112-seat black box theater attached to East Ridge High School that will be used for smaller performances and rehearsal space.
The black box theater is expected to be 66 feet by 51 feet.
The black box theater is tentatively scheduled for a Feb. 22 grand opening.
The Dorothy K. Merrill Community Arts Center, at both campuses, is a partnership between Arts Connection, District 833, the city of Woodbury, Woodbury Community Theatre and the East Metro Symphony Orchestra.
