Letter to the editor: ‘Senor Sommer’ left strong impression on parent
I was glad to see the front page recognition given in last week’s Bulletin to Andy Sommer, the outstanding Spanish teacher at Woodbury High School who was taken from this world entirely too soon.

A favorite of my son’s, even I felt connected to him after only a few brief meetings at conferences and open houses. I was fortunate to attend the memorial service held the same day at his church in Minneapolis, which was packed to capacity and extremely emotional. It was a fitting tribute to a remarkable man who obviously touched many lives in a positive fashion. The fact so many colleagues at WHS considered him a friend and aspired to be like him also says a lot about their own commitment to our children’s education.
He will be sorely missed, but his memory and philosophy of teaching will surely live on in the halls of Woodbury High School.
Vaya con Dios, Senor Sommer.
