The youthful Woodbury gymnastics team showed a bit of improvement from meet No. 1 to meet No. 2, but it wasn’t enough to threaten perennial power Roseville.

The Raiders – the defending Suburban East Conference champion – beat Woodbury 137.3 to 128.95 on Wednesday at Woodbury High School. Woodbury (2-0; 2-0 SEC) has only one senior on its varsity roster this season - Maddy Haut. Roseville is 2-0 on the year after scoring 141.2 in its first meet of the year, a win over East Ridge.

Woodbury seventh grader Allison Trebesch led the way for Royals in the meet with an all-around score of 33.1 – good for fourth place. Her night included an 8.375 on the beam, which earned third place, an 8.075 and a fifth-place finish on the bars and an 8.6 on the vault, which garnered third place. Roseville’s Emily VanKrevelen won the all-around with a score of 35.3.

Sophomore MacKenzie Beck earned Woodbury’s only first-place finish on the night, turning in an 8.8 on the vault. Beck finished with a 32.275 all-around score. Freshman Maddie Pearson edged Beck in the all-around with a 32.375. Pearson’s best event was the floor exercise, where she scored an 8.425 and took fourth place overall.

Next, Woodbury is at Hastings on Thursday, Dec. 13.
