Police reports: Sleepy student slams into mailbox, locker-room thief pursued, more ...

NOTE: This is a sample of recent incidents involving the Woodbury police. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

- Police were called Nov. 20 to a Woodbury address for a car vs. mailbox report. The driver, a juvenile male, told police he had been awake for about 20 hours studying for final exams. He said he fell asleep while driving and struck the mailbox.

- A Houlton, Wis., man reported Nov. 21 that his cellphone was stolen from his vehicle while parked in the Champp’s Americana parking lot. Loss: $200.

- Police were called Nov. 21 to Walgreen’s 1965 Donegal Drive, for a disorderly male. A Salvation Army bell ringer was upset and refusing to leave a company van. Police gave the man a ride back to his St. Paul home.

- A Woodbury woman on Nov. 22 reported seeing someone shining a light in windows in the 1000 block of Heather Drive. Officers determined police reserves responding to a barking dog call were responsible for the activity.

- Woodbury firefighters and police responded Nov. 22 to a Woodbury residence for a an oven fire. The fire had been extinguished prior to authorities’ arrival.

- A Woodbury resident reported Nov. 22 that someone had been ringing her doorbell at least 10 times and that footprints were visible in the snow. Police didn’t find anyone. The resident was concerned because the home had been robbed twice already in November.

- Police responded Nov. 23 a Woodbury workout center for a theft report. A Cottage Grove man discovered another man going through his previously locked gym locker. It appeared the man gained access to the locker by taking the complainant’s key while he was showering. The complainant chased the man to the front door.

- Officers were called Nov. 24 to a Woodbury location for a report of up to eight males fighting near a party bus. Police made contact with the group; everyone denied a fight had occurred.

- Police responded Nov. 24 to Taco Bell for a report of an unwanted customer. Workers there said a male motorist came through the drive-thru in a blue sedan. People in the car were rude and belligerent to staff. They were asked to leave without being served. Later that night, the customer returned driving a mini-van, though he was still described as rude and told to leave. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

- An Oakdale woman reported Nov. 24 that her cellphone was stolen from the top of a toilet paper dispenser at Sam’s Club, 9925 Hudson Road. The woman placed a call to the phone, which was answered, but the phone was not returned. Loss: $540.

- Firefighters and police were called Nov. 25 to a Woodbury location for a fire. Cookie crumbs had been left in an oven, creating smoke.

- Police were called Nov. 25 to a Woodbury store for a theft report. A worker reported a man entered the store and talked to him while two other men went off in the store. Suddenly, all three men bolted from the store with two PlayStation 3 consoles in tow. Loss: $409.

- A Woodbury High School student reported. Nov. 26 that his iPhone was stolen from the boys’ locker room.

- A male reported Nov. 26 that his computer bag, containing a laptop computer, an iPad and an iPod was stolen Nov. 21 at the R.H. Stafford Library. The man said he set the bag on the floor in the library and left it alone for two minutes. It was gone when he returned. Loss: $1,690.
