A pair of East Ridge standouts will be taking their talents to the next level next year.
East Ridge seniors Margaret Eggert and Jenna Karrow each signed letters of intent to play Division I college sports as part of National Signing Day ceremonies.
Karrow, the 2010 state diving champion and 2011 runner-up, signed to dive for Miami University of Ohio and Eggert, an outstanding outside hitter for the Raptors’ volleyball team, signed to play Division 1 volleyball for the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss).
Karrow was forced to sit out her senior year with a back injury, but she certainly made a splash around the state of Minnesota in her time with the Raptors.
Karrow was a five-time letter-winner from seventh to 11th grade, earned all-conference four times, was a section champion three times and was all-state three times. She won the Class AA state championship title in 2010 and earned second place in the state in 2011. Karrow holds the East Ridge school record in diving and is the record holder at numerous pools across the state. She also is the Section 3AA diving record holder, a USA Diving national qualifier and, this past summer, was named an AAU All-American on 1-meter, 3-meter and Platform.
Karrow plans to study biochemistry/pre-medicine at Miami University of Ohio.
Like Karrow, Eggert’s list of accomplishments is a long one.
Eggert was a three-time volleyball letter-winner and was the Raptors team captain her junior and senior year. She earned all-conference twice — this season and last. Her efforts as a sophomore helped East Ridge win a Section 4AAA championship and Class AAA state consolation title in 2010.
Eggert received the MSHSL Spotlight on Scholarship her sophomore, junior and senior years and was named as one of the top 20 2013 recruits in the state of Minnesota by Breakdown Sports USA.
