Lillie, Kieffer, Ward grab early leads

Republican incumbents Ted Lillie and Andrea Kieffer opened up early leads in their respective districts, while Democrat JoAnn Ward saw favorable early returns in her Woodbury-area race.

Republican incumbents Ted Lillie and Andrea Kieffer opened up early leads in their respective districts, while Democrat JoAnn Ward saw favorable early returns in her Woodbury-area race.

Lillie, running against Democrat Susan Kent, clung to a 3,434-3,226 lead in the Senate District 53 with four of 24 precincts reporting.

In the District 53A race, JoAnn Ward opened up a 182-84 lead over her Republican challenger Pam Cunningham. Just one precinct had reported so far, according to the secretary of state's website.

Meanwhile, Kieffer, a Woodbury Republican, led Democrat Ann Marie Metzger in House District 53B by 3,467-2,850 with three of 10 precincts reporting.
