Letter to the editor: Metzger not afraid to take a stand

I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Ann Marie Metzger the last few years. I appreciate her authenticity: she’s not afraid to say where she stands on tough issues.

Six weeks ago, my first child was born. When I look into my daughter’s bright eyes, I see such curiosity, such inquisitiveness.

I cannot know what her future will hold, but I can do my best to give her the widest range of possibilities.

I grew up in Hastings, proud that Minnesota’s public schools were some of the best in the country. I look at how much bigger class sizes are today, all of the fees for extracurricular activities. So this fall, I will be supporting a candidate whose first priority is making sure our schools have the resources they need to succeed.

I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Ann Marie Metzger the last few years. I appreciate her authenticity: she’s not afraid to say where she stands on tough issues. Her priorities are right on: making Minnesota better by strengthening the middle class.

I also appreciate her focus on health care. We’re inches away from finally having a health care system where everybody can get insured at a fair rate, no matter their pre-existing conditions. So far my darling daughter is healthy as can be. I want to make sure she can always afford care, no matter what conditions she might have. Ann Marie is working to make that a reality.

Finally, I’m thankful Ann Marie is raising her voice against putting discrimination and voting restrictions into our Constitution. That’s the leadership needed to ensure a bright future for all Minnesotans.

I’m also thrilled to support Susan Kent this fall, and if I could vote for JoAnn Ward too, I sure would. They both have the right priorities for Woodbury, and they’re great people.

I love Minnesota, and I’m confident our votes on Nov. 6 for leaders with the right priorities can make our state even better.
