Letter to the editor: Metzger would bring middle-class values to Legislature
Over the past several years, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Ann Marie Metzger, both as a friend and as a candidate for public office.
Over the past several years, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Ann Marie Metzger, both as a friend and as a candidate for public office.
Ann Marie Metzger is a refreshing choice to represent District 53B as our state representative. Unlike typical politicians she’s not afraid to take a stand, and clearly prioritizes middle-class values and issues above political rhetoric. She’s passionate about making Minnesota a better place for our families, our kids and our businesses. Her combination of passion, negotiating skills and, when needed, “in your face” attitude will upset the apple-cart in St. Paul — and that’s exactly what’s needed to make our government work again.
After earning her degree from Trinity College, Ann Marie spent 15 years in New York in international finance, eventually co-founding her own firm. Here, she learned how to “make deals” – how to bring disparate parties to mutually advantageous compromise. How refreshing that would be in St. Paul.
She understands the struggles and joys of growing up in a middle class family, where issues of the day were discussed over the evening dinner table. In this environment, she developed her deep-seated values and beliefs about the importance of education, health care, and a strong middle class – values she’ll carry with her to St. Paul.
As the mother of a student at Stillwater High School, an active school and community volunteer and leader, and a 15 year resident of Woodbury, she understands how important education is to our future and our economic growth.
Ann Marie Metzger deserves your careful consideration and vote on Nov. 6. Join me as I cast my vote for Ann Marie Metzger.
