Letter to the editor: Lillie: an accomplished leader

In politics today, it’s important to choose a leader who understands the importance of bringing everyone together to accomplish common goals. That is why I will be voting for Ted Lillie in the Minnesota Senate.

Ted Lillie has demonstrated leadership by being an integral part of a bi-partisan effort to finalize the St. Croix River Crossing project. Thanks to the collaboration of local, state, and national officials from both Minnesota and Wisconsin, the project will increase mobility and improve our local economy. A bridge that was held up in the legislature for decades will begin construction next year.

In two short years, Lillie’s hard work and commitment have greatly impacted our community. His accomplishments include improving the state budget from a $6 billion deficit to a $1 billion surplus, without raising taxes. He also supported efforts to increase employment opportunities for veterans, and fought for the rights of daycare providers to operate their small businesses without paying union dues. It’s no wonder Lillie received the “Guardian of Small Business” award and was recognized as one of Minnesota’s “One to Watch” legislators.

I look forward to Ted Lillie continuing to provide economic security and pro-job legislation that will improve businesses’ ability to hire, making our community a thriving place to live and work. Please join me in voting for Ted Lillie on Nov. 6.
