The East Ridge volleyball team won one of its five matches last week by beating rival Woodbury on Thursday night at East Ridge High School.
As the prep volleyball season nears the end of the season, the East Ridge Raptors concluded a busy week with two conference matches throughout the week and a tournament over the weekend at Eastview High School.
On Tuesday, the Raptors traveled to Roseville and lost 3-0. The scores of the three matches were 16-25, 18-25 and 15-25. Sophomore Savannah Lipps led the team with 17 digs, and senior Margaret Eggert had the most kills with 8.
The Raptors defeated Woodbury on Thursday in a very close 5-game match at home. East Ridge won the games by scores of 25-15, 12-25, 25-15, 23-25 and 15-12. As a team, East Ridge recorded 66 digs. Leading the way was Lipps with 20. Junior Makayla Sauro had the next highest with 14, and junior Maddie Christenson with 12. Eggert again led the team with 14 kills, followed by sophomore Claire Whitman who had 12. Senior Tess Kelzenburg had the most aces with 3.
The win gave East Ridge a 6-2 conference record.
The Raptors traveled to Eastview High School for an invitational on Friday and Saturday. They were defeated by Stewartville 2-0, Eastview 2-1 and Blaine 2-0 in the tournament. Individual stats and game scores were not available.
East Ridge was at Stillwater High School for its final regular season game on Tuesday night after the Bulletin went to press. Next up, the Raptors will compete in the Section 4AAA tournament, which begin on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
