Letter to the editor: Writer’s conclusions made a big leap

I don’t know how to respond to Kerry Navara’s scary letter on the “ramifications of a failed marriage amendment” except to say that I am sorry. I am sorry that he believes marriage equity could lead to a world where we would allow a father to marry his son or daughter. Really, that is quite a leap.

Really, that is quite a leap.

The truth is that gay people are just that; gay people.

They are good and bad just like everyone else, and like everyone else, they are mostly good. They have no radical social agenda, they want to marry for the same reasons the rest of us do, for love, commitment and stability.

Marriage is good for their families just like it is good for my family. Stable supported families are good for all of us. I wish Navara could come out of the world where hate speech is acceptable and meet the gay people I know. They are loving and hard working. They are decent and kind.

Please join me in voting no on the marriage amendment.
