Madison’s Place fifth annual fundraiser set for Saturday, Oct. 20

The Madison Claire Foundation’s fifth-annual fundraising event will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis.

The Madison Claire Foundation’s fifth-annual fundraising event will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis.

The program will be hosted by Jana Shortal of Kare 11 featuring the 1970s-era disco stylings of Boogie Wonderland.

The night will include cocktails, hors d’oevres, a live auction and dancing.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the installation of Madison’s Place, the East Metro’s first “inclusive playground” a completely handicap accessible playground where children and parents with and without disabilities can play together side by side.

Tickets are available at http://madisonclairefoundation.org/disco.

The land for the playground, which is located near the Bielenberg Sports Center, was donated by the city of Woodbury.

Dana Millington, president of the foundation, said the organization is still in need of $300,000 to complete the project.

Shy of the land, the labor, material and shipping costs come up to a total cost of $800,000, she said.

The organization has raised significant funds over the last year and is hopeful the Saturday fundraiser will bring more.

“I think we can,” Millington said. “The biggest key is getting the community involved in helping to raise this final chunk.”
