Letter to the editor: Cunningham’s experience counts

When I was hiring employees in my role as a data administrator I looked for that unique combination of experience and enthusiasm. When I look to hire a legislator I look for the same combination.

We know that health care makes up nearly half of the state budget and with Obamacare changes coming in the next 15 months we need a representative with health care experience. Pam Cunningham has my vote because she has been in health care for 30 years. She currently works at St. Mary’s Health Clinics helping the uninsured get needed care. She also has experience working in hospitals and seeing what does and does not work.

Pam also does not need on the job training when it comes to education. As a nine-year member of the 622 School Board she has decided when and when not to ask for levies, for how much to ask, and has worked with fellow school board members and citizens to get them passed. She has watched as both Republicans and Democrats voted to “shift” money from school districts to the general budget to balance the state budget. Pam Cunningham vows to not let the state steal from schools again.

Her enthusiasm was demonstrated when she came to my door or while talking with a group about her family as the mother of four children and the wife of a local family physician, as a parent serving on a school board, or as a nurse caring for those in pain or in financial stress.

With her experience with two very important issues, health care and education, and her enthusiasm she will achieve great results as our Representative.

I vote to hire Pam Cunningham to the House of Representatives in District 53A.
