By: Ted Bearth, Woodbury Bulletin

My name is Ted Bearth and I am a candidate for Washington County Commissioner, District 2.

I have 26 years of experience as mayor and/or councilperson in the city of Oakdale. Had managed the City of Landfall HRA, Landfall Terrace, for over seven years.

My volunteer activities include chairing the Oakdale Summerfest Committee for the past 20-plus years. Secretary of Oakdale Veterans Memorial Committee for the past four years. I am a Marine veteran. I have been a member of the Maplewood Oakdale Lions Club for the past 15 years, serving as the treasurer. Former District 622 Foundation member and served on the 622 Community Education Advisory Board for many years. Member and volunteer at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Founder of the Oakdale Athletic Association. Chaired The Washington County Community Correction Board.

Married, wife, Aggie, seven children, one deceased. Fortunate to have 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Reason for being a candidate is that I believe that to be an elected official is a privilege and one must treat the position that way. That means doing all the work, all of the time. In my 26 years of being an elected official, I know that I did not miss more than a handful of meeting, workshops or committee assignments. My only promise to the residents is that I will show up and do the work on a full time basis.

I hope to add common sense, cooperation and compromise, when necessary, to the board.

I ask for your vote on Nov. 6.

Thank you for your time

Bearth, an Oakdale resident, is a candidate for Washington County Board, District 2
