Letter to the editor: Enough is enough at Red Roof Inn
It is time we as a community take a stand against the Woodbury Red Roof Inn.
It is time we as a community take a stand against the Woodbury Red Roof Inn.
I am so tired of reading about all the criminal activities going on there every week in the police blotter section of the Woodbury Bulletin that I can’t take it anymore. Drugs, rape, prostitution, assault and hostage situations are hardly the makings of the 11th best place to live in America. I support their right to make money as a business; however, I do not support their overuse of my already busy police department (290 police calls to the Red Roof in the past year alone) and their rental practices that put my fellow citizens in harm’s way by allowing criminals to pay cash for a room.
Our town can do better and we should expect better. The corner off 494/Valley Creek Road is an entry point to Woodbury and we can demand more of our commercial neighbors that welcome so many to our neighborhoods. Just opening a business is not the end of your responsibility here (or anywhere). Please join me in the fight against a business that will not be allowed to operate ‘business as usual’ in a suburb full of families. The Facebook page is “Shut Down the Woodbury Red Roof Inn” and you can sign the petition at www.change.org and browse for “Shut down the Red Roof Inn.”
In a town of more than 60,000 residents, I expect we can make a clear statement with a few simple clicks. A huge thank you to my Woodbury Police Department who keep us safe every day of the year. I am sorry to the officers that were put in the horrible hostage situation, please know you are appreciated and I stand by you through it all.
