This fall, Jennifer Penwell steps in as head coach of a New Life Academy girls tennis team that is “young but very promising” according to the new coach.

In 2012, the Eagles roster has no seniors and only two juniors. Currently there are three eighth graders, one freshman and eight sophomores on the roster as well.

The top two players for New Life this year are expected to be sophomore Kylie Falteisek and junior Anu Otgonbat, who will play No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. In addition, key newcomers are freshman Krista Haglund and eighth grader Jessica Gross. The girls need to replace Shelby Derrick and Cara Lutes, who won’t be back with the team in 2012.

Penwell said strength of her squad this year is “team unity.”

“This is the nicest group of girls ever with a very high scholastic average,” Penwell said.
