Woodbury’s municipal golf course is seeing more rounds, more members and an overall jump in revenues from last year.

Golf course operations manager Dan Moris said the March start to the season contributed to the increase in rounds this year at the Eagle Valley Golf Course.

The city’s restructured rates and Royal Club membership benefits have attracted more golfers as well.

“You see the dramatic increase a little bit because we fell off in 2011,” Moris said.

Royal Club members went from 369 last year up to 633 this year.

The course’s revenues have gone up from $789,000 in 2011 to more than $1 million this year, according to the city’s figures.

Moris said Royal Club membership will be sold again starting in September to be used for the remainder of the season and continue until next fall.

He added that since Keller Golf Course in St. Paul will close for a major renovation for two years, the Woodbury golf course will likely capture those members.

Eagle Valley will continue to see changes in 2013, which were highlighted at the Wednesday, Aug. 22 City Council annual budget workshop.

The course has already seen some cosmetic upgrades this year and will continue to see more next year.

The facility is also serving individual bottles of alcohol that have been “another amenity” to the golfers visiting the course, Moris said, and have helped increase revenues.
