Police reports: Facebook fleecing, dressing-room Peeping Tom, more ...

A Woodbury woman reported Aug. 9 that she was scammed through email and Facebook contact. The woman said she was contacted by someone claiming she had won a $50,000 lottery. The woman believed the claim and sent a $6,000 money order as part of the process to someone in Florida. She also sent another $1,000 to someone in Texas. Her original online contact later demanded another $1,000 for insurance purposes to secure the prize. Police told the woman that she had fallen for a scam and that she was unlikely to get her money back.

Woodbury police were looking for a man suspected of using his cellphone to shoot photos of a teenage girl in a changing room. Officers were called at 5:24 p.m. Aug. 9 to Old Navy for reports of suspicious activity. Witnesses said the man held his cellphone over the top of a dressing room and recorded images of a 13-year-old girl changing. The girl noticed the cellphone and told her mother, who was in the store. The suspect left as the girl was reporting the incident to her mother and Old Navy staff.

The suspect was gone by the time police arrived.

A Woodbury woman reported Aug. 9 that jewelry was stolen from her home in the 11000 block of Brookview Road. The woman said she and her husband were away from the home between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.; a cleaning crew was at their home during that time. The jewelry, which included a necklace and earrings, totaled $2,800.

A resident in the 7000 block of Courtly Road reported Aug. 10 that items were stolen from his vehicle. A Bluetooth headset and a wedding ring were reported missing from the unlocked vehicle. Loss: $600.

Police responded Aug. 10 ot a theft report in the 9100 block of Parkside Drive. A resident there said items were stolen from a boat parked at the house. Two waterski ropes, valued at $100, were missing.

The city of Woodbury reported Aug. 10 that bench seats were stolen from a storage area near Hargis Parkway and Radio Drive. The eight metal planks, which were found unbolted from their legs, were valued at $2,156.

A resident in the 9000 block of Parkside Drive reported Aug. 10 that items were stolen from her home. Missing items included a laptop computer, lacrosse sticks and a cellphone. Entry appeared to have been made through an open garage door and an unlocked service door to the home. No suspects.

Police responded Aug. 10 to Cub Foods, 8432 Tamarack Village, for a suspicious activity report. Someone at the store reported seeing two males attempt to access an ATM. One was overheard saying that if “they could only figure out the PIN number … they would be golden.” Police caught up with the two males, one of whom said his mother had given him checks and her credit card. The male’s mother confirmed that she had given him her card to pay for gas. He was released to her custody. The other male was jailed on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and a handicap parking violation.

Police were called Aug. 11 to the 1700 block of Century Circle for a theft report. A man there said someone made forced entry into his storage locker and stole car stereo equipment and a camcorder. Management at the complex was reviewing surveillance video. Loss: $1,650.

A resident in the 8600 block of Savanna Oaks Bay reported Aug. 12 that a male was seen trying to break down the front door of a home and attempting to climb onto the roof and making noise. Police made contact with the suspect. He was the homeowner and was attempting to get in his house after his key broke off in his door handle. The noise was from him attempting to wake his roommate.

Police responded Aug. 12 to Super America on Lake Road for a robbery complaint. A woman reported a suspected robbery after confronting a man there who said he was going to rob the store. The woman said she saw a store clerk lifting his hands as if he were being robbed. Police arrived and caught the suspect, who was found to be drunk. He said he had gone into the store to call a cab after an argument with his girlfriend. The man was taken to a detox facility.

A resident in the 400 block of Woodduck Place reported Aug 12 that two people had stolen her belongings. The woman said her friend and his girlfriend were at the house and left with her television and cellphone. Loss: $380.

A Woodbury woman reported a theft Aug. 12 at the Woodbury Lakes parking lot. She said she returned from shopping to find her vehicle’s passenger-side window smashed out. She said nothing appeared missing. During the investigation, a bystander told police a backpack was found next to another vehicle. The woman confirmed the backpack was hers and that nothing appeared missing.

Police responded Aug. 12 to Subway, 9887 Norma Lane, for a theft report. A Woodbury man reported the window smashed out of his vehicle. An iPod was missing. A possible suspect was spotted. Loss: $250.

A Woodbury resident reported suspicious activity in the 700 block of Tamberwood Trail. Four males were seen sitting in lawn chairs in the corner of the street. Police located the males. They were leaving for college the following week and were hanging out smoking cigars.

Police were called Aug. 13 to the 10000 block of Falling Water Lane for a suspicious activity report. A caller reported a female was taking flowers from a landscaping area and loading them into her trunk. The complainant confronted the woman about the activity and was told that she was a Woodbury Ciyt Council member and was moving the plants because she didn’t have any money. Police tracked the vehicle to a Lake Elmo residence. Officers found the woman hiding on the steps of her deck after being locked out of the home by her daughter for being drunk. Police determined the woman was heavily intoxicated. She denied the theft and stated she was working for the county. The woman, who is not a Woodbury City Council member, was transported to detox. The plants were recovered and returned.

A resident in the 6300 block of Oakwood Road reported a burglary Aug. 13. The woman said she came home from work to find her front door and garage service door damaged. Police cleared the residence but did not find any suspect. The woman found jewelry, coins, savings bonds, credit cards, personal files and a laptop computer had been stolen in the burglary.

Police were called Aug. 14 to Walmart, 10240 Hudson Road, for a theft in progress. Police caught up with the suspects’ vehicle. One of the suspects, a St. Paul man, was known to police for extensive theft history, especially involving baby formula. He was found outside a hotel and arrested. A search of his vehicle turned up 58 cans of infant formula valued at $845. He and two other people were jailed on suspicion of theft.

A worker at Haskell’s Liquor, 6445 Lake Road, reported a confrontation Aug. 14 with a male who had been caught stealing the previous week at the store. The worker said he spotted the male and another male in the parking lot near the store and stared them down. The second male popped his head in the door and asked the worker if he had a problem. The worker responded that the male’s acquaintance he stolen from him in the past. The male responded, “That’s what we do,” and added, “What are we supposed to do? Should I rob someone in your parking lot?” The males left the area without further interaction.
