A Cottage Grove man was cited Wednesday after his SUV broadsided a vehicle driven by a Woodbury woman and two children.
The Woodbury woman, 44, and two school-age children, were both hospitalized at United Hospital, said Woodbury Police Sgt. Dave Brennan.
He said the 31-year-old Cottage Grove man ran a red light while driving south on Radio Drive. His vehicle struck the Woodbury woman’s vehicle, which Brennan said was proceeding under a green turn arrow while attempting to turn west onto Afton Road from Radio Drive.
A third vehicle, driven by a 57-year-old Woodbury man, was also involved, but only received a scratch, Brennan said.
Neither the Cottage Grove man, who was cited for careless driving, nor an infant passenger in his vehicle were injured. Brennan said all occupants involved in the crash were wearing seat belts. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Brennan said construction at the Radio Drive-Valley Creek Road intersection likely kept speeds lower and “probably helped” prevent a more serious crash.
Names of the occupants were not released pending a crash investigation.
