Keillor to headline event for Woodbury-area Democrats

One of Minnesota’s most recognizable voices will headline a Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party fundraiser next week in Lake Elmo.

District 53 DFL Chairwoman Alberder Gillespie announced Monday that Garrison Keillor will speak at the “DFL Unity Picnic” on Monday, July 16, at 3M Tartan Park in Lake Elmo. Keillor hosts the Minnesota Public Radio program "A Prairie Home Companion."

Jim Klobuchar, a former newspaper columnist and father of U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, also will speak at the event.

The event kicks off DFL campaign efforts for Democrats in Senate District 53 – which covers all of Woodbury – and surrounding areas, including Afton, Lake Elmo and Cottage Grove.
