For leading a whole new lineup to the state tournament, New Life Academy head softball coach Mick Ramey was selected as the Minnesota Coach of the Year for Class A last week.
NLA is the winner of the past four Class A state championships and the only team in state history to win four consecutive state titles. Ramey has been coaching youth sports for over 20 years and has been coaching at New Life Academy for 12 years – five years in basketball and nine years in softball. This year is his sixth as head coach of the Eagles softball team.
In addition to the Coach of the Year honor, Ramey was selected to coach the in the Annual Minnesota High School All-Star Girls Softball Series for a fifth straight year.
