The season came to an end for the Royals softball team last week. Twelfth-seeded Woodbury, which finished the year 4-15 overall and 4-14 in the Suburban East Conference, fell 5-3 to the fifth-seeded South St. Paul in the first round of the Section 4AAA tournament on Monday. In the game, Woodbury took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. However, South St. Paul (13-8) put up three runs on the board in the fourth inning to tie the game, then added two runs in the fifth inning to take a lead and hung on for the win. Woodbury must now say good-bye to eight seniors from its roster – Bandholz, Emily Beedle, Alise Jacobsen, Josie Ryan, Alex Benedict, Chloe Richter, Sam Kosel and Amanda Retica.
