Woodbury girls golf: Royals finish fourth in Suburban East

Not able to play this year’s Suburban East Conference championship tournament because of weather last week, the Woodbury girls golf team finished in fourth place in the 10-team conference standings. The 2012 SEC champion was Stillwater.
Three Royals teammates earned conference honors at the regular season’s end. Woodbury’s Katie Moore took All-Conference and Annemarie Fischer and Rachel Letsche were each All-Conference honorable mention.
Prior to the conference tournament, Woodbury played in a conference match on Monday, May 21, at Forest Hills Country Club in Forest Lake. The Royals earned fourth place in the match with a 187. Moore led the way with a 41 nine-hole score. Fischer had Woodbury’s second-best day with a 47, followed by Kari Johnson, who shot a 49 and Maggie Sweeney, who carded a 50.
Stillwater won the match with a 175. With a 38, White Bear Lake’s Abbie Mozzetti bested Stillwater’s Cassie Deeg (39) for medalist honors.
Next, Woodbury will compete in the two-day Section 3AAA tournament on Wednesday, May 30, and Friday, June 1, at Phalen Golf Course in St Paul, and Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, respectively.
