Letter to the editor: Lillie’s principles shined through this legislative session

In the 2012 legislative session, Sen. Ted Lillie showed clearly why he deserves re-election in November. The recent battle over the Vikings stadium shows us that, despite the pressure, Sen. Lillie would not cave to vote for welfare for the rich.
If our legislators could not say “no” to building the infrastructure of a multi-billion dollar enterprise known as the National Football League, then we will never get a handle on the budget and ever-expanding government.
Legislators, Republican and Democrat alike, did themselves no favors by voting for such an economic loser as a stadium for a sports team.
By the way, where was the outrage by Democrats for this “welfare for the rich?” Sen. Lillie held firm and put the taxpayer first and voted against the Vikings stadium. He should be commended for this.
Also, in his first year as a senator in 2011, Sen. Lillie earned an 85 rating by the Minnesota Taxpayers League. He has shown he will put the taxpayer first even when it means going against his own party.
Sen. Lillie deserves re-election in November. We need his business experience and his toughness in the legislature. Please support him.
