Woodbury baseball coach Kevin McDermott has been saying his team is good enough to beat anyone in Section 4AAA. On Friday, his Royals proved it.
Woodbury, the No. 11 seed in the section tournament, upset No. 6-seeded Mahtomedi on the road, winning 3-1.
The win puts the Royals back to work Saturday, where they will face No. 3-seeded Mounds View.
The location of Saturday's game, orignally scheduled for McKnight Field in North St. Paul, has been changed. According to the Minnesota State High School League, the Royals will face the Mustangs at 5 p.m. at Midway Stadium in St. Paul.
