It’s going to be a blast in Woodbury – perhaps just not the kind neighbors will be hoping for.
It’s going to be a blast in Woodbury – perhaps just not the kind neighbors will be hoping for.
City officials announced Monday that blasting for Well No. 18 – at Settlers Ridge Parkway and Valley Creek Road – begins this week.
Crews will be using explosives to create a cavity at the bottom of the well. Blasting is expected to last the next four to six weeks, according to a city news release. There will be a total of about 10 blasting events, comprised of up to 12 shots a day approximately 20 minutes apart.
The blasting will occur between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Nearby property owners were mailed “blasting notices.”
According to the city, people living up to two miles away could feel a “thump” with each blast. The city said vibration levels will be monitored “to ensure they don’t reach levels that can damage homes.”
