The Woodbury boys lacrosse team entered playoffs on a three-game win streak after beating Rochester Century 6-2 and Breck 5-4 in a pair of non-conference games last week.
The wins put the Royals one game over .500 at 7-6 on the year.
In the win over Rochester Century on Wednesday at Woodbury High School, the Royals used a four-goal third period to take a 5-2 lead and didn’t look back.
Woodbury senior Mac Mitsch had 10 saves in the game, allowing only two goals.
Jack Lyden led the Woodbury offense with two goals on the night. Also, Lee Broadbent had a goal and an assist and Trey Lervick, Logan Dirkx and Jeff Rech each added goals.
Woodbury came on late to beat Breck in overtime last week. Down 4-0, the Royals scored four fourth quarter goals to force overtime, then won it in the extra frame.
Mitsch had a game-high 14 saves in the victory. Broadbent scored twice, Derek Biebel had a goal and an assist and Adam Herold-Plakut and Nick Murphy each netted one goal to lead the Royals’ offense.
For the year, Lyden led the Royals in scoring with 34 points on 21 goals and three assists, followed by Broadbent with 18 points on 13 goals and five assists and Dirkx with 17 points on 16 goals and an assist.
Mitsch was solid in the net all year, going 7-5 with 148 saves, a 5.56 goals against average and a .698 save percentage.
Eighth-seeded Woodbury plays host to ninth-seeded Roseville on Wednesday, May 23, in the opening round of the Section 5 tournament at Woodbury High School.
