An Oakdale man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly robbed a pedestrian on Woodlane Drive.
Washington County prosecutors charged the suspect, Erik Martinez, with one count of simple robbery, a felony charge that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
According to a complaint filed in the case, police were called Tuesday to Woody’s Roadhouse on Woodlane Drive for a robbery report. A man there told police he had been robbed by a man while he was walking down Woodlane Drive.
The alleged victim said he was approached by the man, who first asked if he wanted to buy drugs. The man declined the offer and was then threatened with bodily harm and told to turn over his belongings, the complaint states.
The man gave the suspect his iPhone, a money clip, credit cards and identification.
Police tracked the iPhone to St. Paul’s east side. With help from St. Paul police, Woodbury officers executed a search warrant at a home on East Wakefield Street in St. Paul, where they found Martinez, who said “I give up” when met by officers.
A search of the area turned up the missing iPhone, credit cards, money clip and identification.
The alleged victim identified Martinez as the perpetrator.
Martinez makes his first court appearance on the charge today in Washington County District Court.
