The Woodbury girls golf team was consistent in its recent matches, turning in a pair of six place finishes at two Suburban East Conference tournaments last week.
Woodbury shot a nine-hole 197 to take sixth out of 10 teams at North Oaks Golf Club on Monday before shooting a 197 to take sixth place on Wednesday at the White Bear Yacht Club.
At North Oaks, Woodbury junior Katie Moore led the way with a 44. Senior Rachel Letsche (48), eighth grader Annemarie Fisher (51) and junior Molly Sweeney (54) rounded out the Royals’ top four.
Stillwater’s Cassie Deeg won medalist honors with a 35. The SEC-leading Ponies won the match with a 160.
At the White Bear Yacht Club, Moore carded a 45 to lead the Royals. Sophomore Kalley Hakes (46), Fisher, Letsche and Maggie Sweeney each shot 53s to fill out Woodbury’s total.
Deeg and Cretin-Derham Hall’s Celia Kuenster each shot 35 to share medalist honors. Stillwater won the match with a 176.
On the year, Woodbury is currently in fifth place in the SEC standings. Individually, Moore is in sixth place and Letsche is 15th.
“The difference between placing second and seventh in each conference tournament is fewer than 10 strokes,” Woodbury head coach Courtney DenHerder said. “Each match is close.”
Next, the Royals host a conference match on Thursday at Prestwick Golf Club.
