Woodbury boys golf: Royals score season-low at White Bear Yacht Club

The Woodbury boys golf carded its best score of the year last week as it shot a 312 to finish in fifth place out of 10 teams in a Suburban East Conference match at White Bear Yacht Club on Tuesday.

The Woodbury boys golf carded its best score of the year last week as it shot a 312 to finish in fifth place out of 10 teams in a Suburban East Conference match at White Bear Yacht Club on Tuesday. The Royals were only five strokes back of the first place finisher – Forest Lake.

“The boys played some great golf at a very difficult golf course,” Woodbury head coach Mike Anderson said.

The Royals were led by seniors Matt Hamilton (75) and Nate Wareham (77), and juniors Mike Myers (78) and Thomas Swedenborg (82) on the day.

Before the conference match, Woodbury competed in the White Bear Lake Invitational, which was held at Dellwood Hills Golf Club on Monday, April 23.

Woodbury finished 12th out of 16 teams in the tournament with a 331 score.

Wareham led the way (80), followed by Hamilton (82), Myers (84) and Swedenborg (85).

The Royals played in a conference match on Monday, and hosted its home conference tournament on Tuesday, May 1 at Prestwick Golf Club in Woodbury, after the Bulletin went to print. Next, the team is at Stillwater Country Club on Monday, May 7, for another SEC match.
