Woodbury Rotary held the third annual Miracle Gala Friday where $4,000 was raised.
The event was held at Prestwick Golf Club and drew 90 people and donations through silent and live auctions, said Rotary member and event organizer Bill Reinhardt.
In addition to raising money for Rotary programs and scholarships, the club is helping the Madison Claire Foundation raise funds for an all-inclusive playground dubbed “Madison’s Place.”
“It was a good time, the program included jugglers and music,” Reinhardt said, “and a talk by Matt Limegrover, who is the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Gopher football team.”
The local Rotary Club has raised $230,000 to build the Woodbury Rotary Jeff Hanson Memorial Miracle Field, which is slated for a grand opening June 7.
Ground breaking was held last summer and the field is expected to be completed this year.
The Miracle League is expected to begin playing on the field shortly after the grand opening, according to city officials.
The field, along with Madison’s Place, will create an area for physically disabled children to play sports and spend time outdoors on the appropriate playground equipment.
