District 833 briefs: Elementary boundaries in Woodbury changed, more ...

Woodbury-related briefs from District 833 School Board.

Elementary attendance boundary changed

A group of students in three Woodbury housing developments will transition from one elementary school to another over a three-year period.

Roughly two dozen children in the Highland Knoll, Oakview and Kingsfield developments will switch from the Liberty Ridge Elementary boundary area to Middleton Elementary boundary, the District 833 School Board decided.

The district wanted to make the change due to expected growth in the Highland Knoll development, said Mike Vogel, assistant to the superintendent for operations.

The boundary change will be phased in from the 2012-13 to 2014-15 school years.

The board voted 6-0 to approve the boundary change at its Thursday meeting.

School Board picks Liberty Ridge builder

A Watkins, Minn., construction company will build the Liberty Ridge Elementary School Expansion known as Site II.

The School Board on Thursday approved accepting the construction bid of KUE Contractors. KUE presented the lowest of nine bids the district’s project architect received.

The construction across Settler’s Ridge Parkway from the main Liberty Ridge school building is expected to cost $1.658 million. The expansion will house preschool and kindergarten classes.

Woodbury City Council members are expected to vote on the project May 9.
