The New Life Academy baseball team stayed a game above .500 with a 2-2 week last week.

New Life Academy (4-3) beat PACT Charter 6-3 on Monday, fell 10-0 to West Lutheran on Wednesday and lost 6-1 to Providence Academy on Thursday, before rebounding to beat Southwest Christian 2-0 on Saturday. In the win over Southwest Christian, NLA scored both of its runs in the third inning, which was more than enough for starting pitcher Nick Brezniak. In the Eagles’ other win last week – over PACT, NLA pulled off the victory after several lead changes made it a back-and-forth game on Tuesday.

New Life Academy finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. A passed ball scored John Horner to give New Life Academy the lead for good. Thomas Gunderson went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate for the Eagles and Brezniak got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed only two hits and one run over two innings, striking out two, walking none.

NLA took on Maranatha Christian on Tuesday, after the Bulletin went to print. Next, NLA hosts St. Paul Humboldt at Bielenberg Sports Complex on Friday.
