East Ridge cheer: Lambert steps down as coach

After a combined 11 seasons of coaching over 200 girls and 25 different cheer squads at both Saint Ambrose of Woodbury Catholic School and East Ridge High School, East Ridge head cheer coach Cindy Lambert decided to hang up her poms and retire.

The East Ridge High School Cheer Boosters hosted a farewell tribute to Lambert, a Woodbury resident, at their awards banquet held on March 29.

Lambert’s accomplishments are many. One of her biggest challenges was starting the cheer program at East Ridge from the ground up in 2009 when the school first opened. Her programs, which included both sideline and competition squads, proved to be amazingly successful with five state championships, two UPA National Championships, three UCA Finalist teams and over 30 regular season competition wins. Coach Lambert’s squads have also participated in many, many community parades and service events such as Relay for Life, Race for the Cure, Salvation Army’s Unite the Night Coat Drive, and Little Chicks Cheer Clinics to name a few.

“Coach Lambert has had quite a run with her career in coaching cheer and we are, of course, sad to see her leave the sport,” said East Ridge cheer booster club president Julie Lee.
