A new addition of the Dancing Waters development was approved last week, but not all aspects of the project were favored by residents.

Planning Commissioner Irfan Ali said one part of the development plans discussed extensively at the April 2 Planning Commission meeting had to do with a storm water pond.

Although most residents are happy about the development, Ali said two residents expressed concerns about the pond.

Residents view the pond as a lake and an amenity. They were hoping for a trail around it, he said.

But in 2005, there was a breach in the pond and based on that failure, the city had to put lining in the pond.

“Any grading work could compromise the work that was done to remedy the situation,” Ali said, as he explained the staff’s reasoning behind the recommendation not to add a trail.

Woodbury City Council approved the new addition of Dancing Waters without any modifications to the pond as per Planning Commission’s recommendation.
