Boys golf: Raptors, Royals tee it up at River Oaks Invitational

The East Ridge and Woodbury boys golf teams competed in a large invitational at River Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove on Tuesday and defended their hometown course well.

The East Ridge and Woodbury boys golf teams competed in a large invitational at River Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove on Tuesday and defended their hometown course well.

Woodbury finished tied for fifth place with a 327 and East Ridge shot a 335 to take 12th place at the 19-team tournament.

Woodbury seniors Nate Wareham and Matt Hamilton led the way for the Royals with matching 81s. Fellow senior Connor Brandt carded an 82 to score third for the Royals and senior Matt Jordahl scored an 83 to round out Woodbury’s top four.

For East Ridge, junior Travis Dorf led the way with an 80, followed by junior Brady Hanson who scored an 82. Sophomore Jack Caron (86) and junior Thomas Tuohy (87) rounded out the Raptors’ top four.

Shattuck-St. Mary’s won the match with a 318. Shattuck’s Jake Curwin and Mounds View’s Kyle Ringhofer shared medalist honors with matching 76 scores.

East Ridge traveled to the Wisconsin Dells over the weekend, then the Raptors and Woodbury each had its first conference match on Tuesday, after the Bulletin went to press. Next, Woodbury competes in an invitational at Dellwood Hills Golf Club on Monday, April 23, while East Ridge heads north to play at The Pines and The Preserve at Grand View Lodge in Peqout Lakes.
