Woodbury school hosts "Peeps" diorama contest

Royals Oaks Elementary students voted on their favorite diorama on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. The choices were: Where’s Peepo,” “The Lorax,” “Don’t Let the Peep Drive the Bus” and “The Three Little Peeps and the Big Bad Bunny.”

Royal Oaks Elementary celebrated the colors, and the tastes, of springtime last week for its second-annual Peeps diorama contest.

The school started the diorama contest, which mirrors the Pioneer Press’ annual contest, last year as a fun way to celebrate the spring.

A total of four dioramas, designed by Royal Oaks staff, were voted on by students.

The contest only has two requirements: the dioramas have to incorporate Peeps and they must be about a children’s book.

For this year’s contest, a total of four dioramas were submitted to the contest — “Where’s Peepo,” “The Lorax,” “Don’t Let the Peep Drive the Bus” and “The Three Little Peeps and the Big Bad Bunny.”

The winning diorama was “The Lorax,” designed by third grade teachers Maribeth Swalve, Tania Dantas, Shannon Esboldt, and Karen Quirk, reading teacher Julie Johnson, and English language learning teacher Jane Trusinsky.
