The Woodbury Public Safety Department welcomed two new staff members last week.

City Council approved hiring a part-time administrative assistant and swore in a new police officer Wednesday.

Megan Altman was hired as the administrative assistant, while Brad Roddy joined the police force.

Altman comes to the city with four years of experience in administrative assistant positions, in addition to a degree in elementary education.

Roddy, who was one of more than 200 applicants, will fill a vacant police officer position.

He comes from the Mankato Police Department where he was a police officer since 2008. He has also worked as a paid-on-call firefighter/EMT for the Columbia Heights Fire Department for more than five years.

Public Safety Director Lee Vague gave Roddy his badge number, 117, which symbolizes his place in the roster at a swearing-in ceremony Wednesday.
