Woodbury basketball: Royals blow big lead, fall into second in SEC

It looked like the Royals were on cruise control.

Up 26-8 at one point in the first half against visiting Roseville, Woodbury showed total dominance in the battle for first place in the Suburban East Conference.

Then something changed. A defensive clampdown by Roseville touched off a dramatic swing in momentum that ultimately cost Woodbury the lead – and the game.

The Raiders squeaked out of the Lion’s Den with a 77-76 win and the outright lead of the SEC.

Woodbury falls to 19-5 overall and 13-3 in the SEC. The Royals have two games remaining on the schedule: road games against Park (Tuesday) and Mounds View on March 2.
