The East Ridge gymnastics team scored a season-high 143.175 in its final meet of the regular season, but it wasn’t enough to beat perennial powerhouse Roseville on Thursday, Feb. 9, at East Ridge High School.
The Raiders, currently ranked second in Class AA with a 147.5 average score, tallied a 146.05 in the win over the Raptors. It was East Ridge’s only conference loss this season. Roseville finished unbeaten.
East Ridge senior Leah Robinette continued her ascent to the top of the individual ranks, however, leading the Raptors in the meet with a first-place all-around score of 38.325, which edged Roseville standout Katie Quigley’s 38.025 all-around score. Robinette took first place in the vault with a whopping 9.775 and first place on the bars with a 9.6. She also earned a tie for first place on the beam with a 9.6 and took second place in the floor exercise with a 9.35.
In addition to Robinette, eighth grader Megan Trollen finished in sixth place in the all-around with a 35.775 score. Trollen scored a 9.15 on the beam, which was good for fifth place, a 9.125 in the floor exercise for sixth place, an 8.5 on the bars for fifth place and a 9.0 in the vault for seventh place. Next, East Ridge will hope to unseat rival Park as Section 3AA champion on Thursday, Feb. 16, at Park High School. East Ridge will be a slight favorite to win the section title and reach the state meet out of Section 3AA. On the year, East Ridge is ranked eighth in Class AA with a 142.017 average and Park is ninth with a 141.925 average.
