Kevin Corbid, the director of Washington County’s Department of Property Records and Taxpayer Services, will take over as the deputy county administrator, County Administrator Molly O’Rourke announced Wednesday.

Corbid, who has led the department that manages property records, taxations, licensure and elections, replaces O’Rourke in the deputy role she held until former administrator Jim Schug retired Jan. 26.

One of three finalists for the administrator position, Corbid, 42, has led his department since 2001, managing a staff of 104 employees and an $8.5 million budget. During his tenure, Corbid has directed Washington County’s portion of two high-profile, statewide election recounts — the Al Franken-Norm Coleman U.S. Senate recount in 2008 and the Mark Dayton-Tom Emmer gubernatorial recount in 2010 — and oversaw the merger of the County Recorder’s office and the Assessment, Taxpayer Services and Elections Department.

Prior to his time in Washington County, Corbid served as a policy analyst at the Association of Minnesota Counties and as a committee administrator in the Minnesota Senate.

Corbid resides in Stillwater with his wife and three children.
