Woodbury basketball: Royals boys thump Wolfpack; Woodbury girls fall to Park

Park boys basketball players have to be wondering what hit them.

Park boys basketball players have to be wondering what hit them.

Woodbury walloped the Wolfpack 98-37 in a Suburban East Conference drubbing.

That 61-point loss left Park still searching for its first SEC victory in two years, and it kept Woodbury undefeated in the conference.

The first half of the boys game ended with Woodbury up 57-20, even after the Royals turned to some of their non-starters. The second half wasn’t much better for Park as it was outscored 41-17.

Thirteen players on the Royals' roster scored at least four points each in the game. The Royals had three players in double digits, led by Tyler Graves’ 12 points.

Park’s leading scorers were Tim Vorwerk with 15 points and Sully Brenke with 9 points.

Park boys (2-14; 0-8 SEC) play at East Ridge (6-9; 3-5 SEC) at 7:15 p.m. Friday. The Woodbury boys team (13-2; 8-0 SEC) plays host to Mounds View (12-3; 6-2 SEC) at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

In the girls game, Kristina White’s 28 points weren’t enough for Woodbury as Park pulled away in the second half for the victory, its first after dropping two games – and first place in the Suburban East Conference – last week.

Park was led by Sydney Lamberty’s 21 points. Larissa Lurken added 15 points.

Park girls (13-5; 8-2 SEC) take on East Ridge (7-10; 2-8 SEC) at 7:15 p.m. Friday in Cottage Grove. The Woodbury girls team (5-12; 2-8 SEC) travels to Mounds View Friday for a 7:15 p.m. game.
